Zero McKenna Celtic Discussions as Bellamy Commits to Welsh National Team

Both are being considered with the coaching position at the Premiership title holders following the former manager's resignation on Monday.

The Manager's Stance on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss referred to Celtic as "an enormous football club" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town.

The 39-year-old assumed control of Ipswich in 2021 and led them to the English top flight with consecutive elevations, but they managed only a handful of victories last campaign as they were relegated back to the Championship and they currently sit 12th in England's second tier.

"I have not had such discussions," the English capital native ex- Irish youth international said when asked about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any part of my concentration is currently.

"I possess a special position here at a remarkable club. And we're at a really important phase of the campaign. Anything external hasn't reached my radar."

Context and Agreement Details

Reports indicate that McKenna would be open to speaking to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"Growing up, we all have our preferences," he said when questioned about those. "It's unlikely all people has to go around and announce what they were, but naturally it's a really big football club."

The coach agreed to a fresh multi-year deal in last year and was asked about his reported £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he responded. "I don't know what mine are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I tackle this role like I'll be Ipswich manager indefinitely. I know that's not always going to be the case, but I'll always do my best as while I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Situation

The former striker played for Celtic on temporary transfer from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the ex- Wales forward is minded to complete the ongoing global tournament qualification, a stance that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from assuming the Glasgow position.

The Welsh squad are currently in third place in their World Cup group behind leaders the Red Devils and second-placed Macedonia.

Wins over Liechtenstein and their rivals in November would secure their place in the qualification play-offs, but they are virtually guaranteed of reaching that stage, thanks to a successful Nations League campaign, even if they not finish as Group J runners-up.

Considering his current stance, Bellamy, whose contract expires after Euro 2028, would not be available until after the play-offs at the minimum.
