Uche Ignites Comfortable Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Missing star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another victory in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS ought to be sufficient to secure direct entry to the last 16, especially after a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This match offered a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched against a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee waved away the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
