The Blue Jays Earn World Series Meeting Versus Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer contributed to the Astros claiming the World Series in the 2017 season.

The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their maiden Fall Classic following 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing 3-1, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh frame, guiding the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 victory in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, who are the defending champions, in the anticipated championship.

"It's incredible for everyone here, Toronto, Canada," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "What an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now connected for 23 post-season home runs, placing him third on the list trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another person on planet Earth that I'd choose in that moment other than George Springer with his playoff prowess," said manager John Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "there's no question that it hurts" in the wake of his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance this season.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we ended up on the losing end of this game," he continued.

The Blue Jays won the championship on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
