"It's a bit unusual but then, I enjoy running and just go inside - I'm not staying back that much," he said.

"I tell my centre-back 'I'm not hanging back' and that I'm just going to keep attacking.

"The movement is what I'm looking for. It's good fun."

In addition to the forward's six scores on debut, Stephen Ireland has scored 8 in three games for Wythenshawe, while George Boyd scored five on his debut appearance and Lescott, a centre-half by trade, notched a hat-trick in one game as a striker.

"Our group literally have not ceased talking about it - I was calling my mum and sibling on the journey home.

"They were all really nice, shaking our hands after the match - it was like playing a group of normal fellas.
