Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Police report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered numerous other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials say initial examinations show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.
A high-ranking representative stated the attack rendered him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
